Fox Class

Fox Class is a pre-formal exploratory class designed for pupils who benefit from a highly practical, hands- on approach to learning. We provide a nurturing and supportive environment that is calm, caring, and positive, where every child is valued and respected. Our aim is to deliver an inclusive education in which students are celebrated and supported to achieve their full potential through strong, positive relationships between staff and pupils.

Children in Fox Class may present with a complex range of needs that can impact learning, including social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, communication and interaction difficulties, and speech and language needs. As a result, we place a strong emphasis on the development of early communication, using personalised communication boards and symbols to ensure every child feels engaged and included.

Children work towards their individual support plan outcomes through a specialised curriculum that is delivered using multi-sensory, play-based learning approaches.

The Fox Class classroom is organised into three clearly defined areas: the Learning Zone, the Calm Zone, and the Regulation Zone, each designed to support different aspects of learning and emotional regulation. Our pre-formal approach focuses on developing pre-symbolic communication

skills, using gestures and individual motivators to support engagement and learning. We provide regular opportunities to develop both fine and gross motor skills and promote meaningful engagement through a whole-communication approach. Children are supported to build tolerance and proximity, with frequent opportunities for high quality one to one interactions.

We are proud of the pupils in Fox Class for their exploration of the seasons.

They have particularly enjoyed spending time outdoors and engaging with their environment in a variety of weather conditions.
