Year 5 - Hancock Museum Visit

Lesson: History

Class: Year 5 Year: 2021 - 2022

We visited the Hancock Museum in Newcastle to find out about how the Ancient Greeks lived. First, we took part in a workshop where we got to examine artefacts that Ancient Greek soldiers would have used in their fighting and training. We then took part in different games in the museum, which included finding different artefacts and matching them to the date in history that they belonged to. We examined a large map of Ancient Greece and answered questions based on clues. Finally, we became mini-archaeologists and found parts of an Ancient Greek plate, which we pieced together and identified. We enjoyed exploring the museum and learning about the Ancient Greek civilisation.
