Our first week in school

Date: 17th Sep 2021 @ 4:48pm

We have had such fun in our first week in school. It has been great to see all of the children settling in so well and adapting to our school routines. We have spent lots of time this week focusing on making relationships and how to use our provision.

We have been sharing stories about our families and how they make us feel. Each child has drawn a picture of their family and discussed why their family members are important to them. We have enjoyed listening to our class texts this week too. As a class we have read: 'Families, families, families.', 'The Family Book' and 'And Tango Makes 3'. Each story has given children an oppurtunity to discuss their own family as well as how other families can be different to their own. We are going to continue this topic next week. In our provision areas, children have had lots of fun representing their own home. It has been wonderful to see their imaginations at work as they have built, drawn or constructed their home.

Finally, we began teaching phonics this week! We are so proud of how quickly children are recognising the 4 phonemes and graphemes that we have covered this week.

Take a look through our pictures to see what we have been up to.

We hope you all have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Williams and Miss McIntosh
