Creative Arts Week- Showcase

Our week began with an amazing lesson in Bollywood Dancing.

We took part in a lesson where we learnt 2 different types of Bollywood Dances. The first one was to Dhoom Machale and the second one was from Bollywood Dreams the musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber. We learnt different hand shapes such as peacock, prayer, crab, and lotus flower plus many more! We looked at how these linked to the Hindu Gods.

This made us very excited. We continued with creative arts this time with Rangoli patterns on purple mash. We also created a rangoli pattern with sand, pebbles and coloured rice just like Hindus when it is a special occasion outside their front doors. In Art lessons we made a printing tile in groups to use printing techniques to print with ink a rangoli pattern. These are displayed in school and they look very impressive.

Next we learnt all about Mehndi patterns. We designed one and then tried to paint each others designs on a friends arm and hand. Some of us found this ticklist but it was great fun!

We learnt about a Hindu Artist called Amita Dutta. She was deaf but overcome diversity and became a succesfuly artist using the media of coffee. Have a look at some of our creations using coffee, it was a very effective media and fun to use as well as fragrant!

We loved creative arts week- have a look at the photographs below to see why!
