Pupil Premium

What is the Pupil Premium?

Pupil Premium funding is additional funding allocated to schools to support disadvantaged pupils. Hetton Lyons Primary School receives pupil premium for: children that are cared for or adopted from care; and for every pupil who has received free school meals over the last 6 years.

How can I find out if my child is entitled to Pupil Premium?

The easiest way to check if you are entitled is by calling the school office on 0191-5536744 between 10am and 4pm. The staff will go through the process with you in complete confidence.

Children in Reception and KS1 are automatically entitled to a free school lunch; however we ask all parents to register their child when they start school. This ensures the school receives the maximum funding.

How is the funding used?

At Hetton Lyons Primary School we ensure that the pupil premium is used effectively to support each child to achieve their best. We recognise that barriers to achievement take many forms and look for individual ways to to support children. We do this by offering our children a wide range of opportunities and ensuring that these are available for everyone. We work with our families to make sure everyone has high aspirations. We ensure that pupil premium children are represented on the school council and take a full role in school life. In addition to this we make use of educational research such as the Sutton Trust Teaching and Learning Toolkit , to guide us on how to best use the school's resources to improve the outcomes for our disadvantaged pupils.
