Governors

Chair of Governors Welcome

As the Chair of the Governing Body of Hetton Lyons Primary School I would like to welcome you to the Governors section of our web site. Our job is to work with the school on planning, developing policies and keeping the school under review so that all of our children have the opportunity to achieve their full potential.

With the head teacher and staff we:

  • Set high standards for staff and children

  • Set clear targets for improvement

  • Act as a critical friend to the school

  • Help the school to be responsive to the needs of the parents and community

The full Governing Body meet at least once a term working on both school business and ensuring the school complies with the policies of the City of Sunderland and the Department for Education. We also operate a number of smaller committees who have specific roles looking at school finances, the curriculum and standards, the premises, personnel matters and pupil discipline.

If you would like any further information about the role of the Governing Body I can be contacted via the school office.
